SCHOOL & COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

MAAT K12 is inviting educators, writers, subject-area specialists and creative professionals to help shape what comes next in online education. The virtual private school is recruiting volunteer curriculum and development contributors to strengthen standards-based lessons, interactive learning experiences and instructional resources for students across grade levels.

The invitation is rooted in the school’s educational mission: Mastering Academic Achievement Through Technology. MAAT K12’s TK–12 model brings academic instruction, digital tools and a whole-child perspective together. For prospective volunteers, that creates an opportunity to contribute work that teachers can use and students can meaningfully engage with.

More than worksheets: Help create meaningful lessons

Curriculum development is not simply a matter of putting words on a page. Each lesson needs a clear learning goal, appropriate content, a way for students to practice and a way to determine whether learning has taken place. MAAT K12 is especially interested in contributors who can assist with areas such as:

  • Researching and drafting grade-appropriate lessons in English language arts, mathematics, science, history and related subjects.
  • Aligning objectives, activities and assessments with instructional standards.
  • Creating interactive assignments, visual supports and educational media for online delivery.
  • Editing, proofreading, formatting and reviewing digital curriculum materials.
  • Supporting accessible lessons for diverse learners, including students who benefit from language scaffolds, explicit instruction or alternate ways to participate.

A collaborative learning and service experience

Volunteers enter an organized onboarding and training process before receiving assignments. Depending on their skills and the school’s needs, contributors may collaborate with curriculum coordinators, complete structured remote projects and submit work for review. Lesson publication and classroom use remain subject to MAAT K12’s educational standards and staff oversight.

That structure matters. Students need consistent, accurate and age-appropriate instruction, while volunteers deserve clear expectations, feedback and a reliable way to contribute. Experience with educational writing, digital design, research, technology or teaching may be valuable, but specific placements depend on review and training.

Local commitment, global possibility

MAAT K12’s online model offers an opportunity for professionals and community members in different locations to support learning beyond geographical boundaries. By building reusable digital materials, the school aims to connect academic quality with flexibility, curiosity and wider access.

Curriculum volunteers may also contribute to related cultural-literacy initiatives developed with affiliated educational and heritage organizations, where suitable and with appropriate student protections. These potential collaborations do not replace MAAT K12’s core instructional mission.

How to express interest

Adults interested in volunteer curriculum development can email volunteer@maatk12.com with their name, relevant skills, preferred subjects or grade levels and general availability. Learn more about the school at MAAT K12. These are volunteer opportunities, not advertised salaried positions, and submission of interest does not guarantee placement.

Help design a lesson. Help strengthen a classroom. Help create an opportunity a student can carry forward.
