ASML reported third-quarter sales of €11.7 billion on October 14, while warning that its current production plans may not fully satisfy customer demand in 2027 and 2028.
Results and outlook
The chipmaking-equipment supplier’s quarterly release shows net income of €4.96 billion, rounded to €5.0 billion in its headline, and a gross margin of 57.5%. The company expects full-year sales between €44 billion and €45 billion.
Chief executive Christophe Fouquet attributed customers’ rising equipment forecasts primarily to expectations about AI investment. ASML is investigating additional production capacity for 2028.
What the numbers mean
The announcement highlights how demand for AI computing can place pressure on the machinery needed to manufacture chips. Equipment capacity is one constraint within a much larger supply chain.
The quarterly figures are reported results; future sales and supply projections are management forecasts. ASML identifies the quarterly financial statements as unaudited and warns that customer demand, export restrictions and other risks could change outcomes.
