KNN Education Desk | Joseph — Students interested in building, testing and maintaining spaceflight systems have an upcoming opportunity to learn about NASA jobs that do not all require becoming an astronaut. NASA is advertising a virtual Career Technical Education (CTE) Day associated with its Glenn Research Center on November 13, 2026, with a listed registration deadline of November 6.

Exploring the technical work behind spaceflight

The event will introduce students to careers involving advanced materials, precision fabrication and specialized processes used in aerospace missions. NASA’s CTE initiative is designed to connect high school and community-college students in career and technical programs with technicians and experts who understand what happens beyond the better-known roles of scientists and astronauts.

Programs in the broader NASA CTE Days initiative include site-based experiences such as facility tours and practical demonstrations, plus virtual career connections for students who live far from a NASA center. The November 13 Glenn listing describes a virtual event: it should not be confused with guaranteed in-person access to the facility.

More career sessions are already on the calendar

NASA also lists a November 19 virtual session about work on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, including engineering and cleanroom practices, with registration closing November 12. A December 3 event is planned around electronics technicians, including sensors, wiring and instruments used in space; the agency lists November 25 as its registration deadline.

Students who want to explore the technical side of aerospace can use these events to ask about apprenticeships, certificates, community-college pathways and job duties. The listings do not guarantee admission, employment or a paid position.
